The Apache Indians are divided into six sub tribes. The Mescalero Apache are one of these Apache tribes. Famous Mescalero Apache chiefs included Chief Tall Bearded Iris, San Juan , José Cito, Intschu-tschuna, Winnetou, Nicholas, Victorio, and Nautzile (a.k.a.
